Turn Facebook comment threads into a searchable product catalog
Comment Prospector for Facebook turns the endless comment threads under Facebook group marketplace posts into a local, offline-first, searchable product database. In many buy-and-sell groups, members post products as comments under a single admin post — hundreds or thousands of them, with nested replies, images, edits and deletions. Comment Prospector collects them once, structures them into listings, and lets you search instantly — right on your own device.
One click collects every comment on a post — automatically expanding “View more comments” and “See more replies” until the whole thread is captured. Collection can be paused, resumed and cancelled, and survives the browser suspending the extension, so even the largest threads finish reliably.
Seller self-reply chains become products
When a seller stacks several items as self-replies under their own comment, Comment Prospector captures each one as a separate, linked listing — so a single seller’s catalog stays organised instead of collapsing into one blob of text.
Live Watch keeps up with the thread
Turn on Live Watch and the extension keeps appending new comments and replies as they appear, reconciling edits and deletions — ideal for active marketplace posts that change by the minute.
Structured listings, automatically
A deterministic pipeline derives structured fields from each comment — price, brand, condition, keywords and images — with Vietnamese-aware text handling. You get a clean product catalog, not a wall of raw comments. No AI required.
Instant search and filters
Search your catalog instantly with four modes — exact, keyword, phrase and fuzzy — plus filters for brand, condition, author, price range, date, images, bookmarks and more. Every result links back to the original Facebook comment in one click.
Export and back up
Export your catalog to CSV, JSON, HTML, Markdown, a printable PDF catalog with images, or the clipboard. Back up and restore everything — including images — as a single ZIP file that merges cleanly across devices.
Optional AI enrichment
Want more? Add optional AI enrichment — classification, attribute extraction, summaries and tags — using an AI provider you configure (OpenAI-compatible, Ollama, or LM Studio). It is off by default, and everything above works with no AI at all.
Why Comment Prospector?
Offline-first — collecting, indexing and searching all happen on your device.
No accounts, no backend — nothing to sign up for, nothing to log in to.
Your data stays local — everything lives in your browser’s IndexedDB and never leaves your device unless you export it or turn on an optional network feature (both off by default).
Least-privilege by design — network features are opt-in and off by default.
Vietnamese-aware — built for Vietnamese marketplace groups, with 9 interface languages.
Own your data — collect once, search instantly, reuse indefinitely.
Works on your browser
Comment Prospector runs on Chromium browsers — Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera — as a Manifest V3 extension.
Your data stays yours
Comment Prospector has no backend server, no accounts, no analytics, no tracking and no ads. All collected data is stored only in your browser. Two optional network features exist — AI enrichment and offline image caching — and both are off by default, each requiring its own explicit permission grant. API keys are encrypted at rest and excluded from every export and backup.
